Founded in 1978 by David Leff, Leff Construction is a highly respected building contractor in western Sonoma County. With its in-house design and engineering, experienced estimating personnel, and well-trained, professional crews, your Leff Construction project flows smoothly from its earliest conception to its happy conclusion.

During the late 1970's and early 1980's, Leff Construction was actively involved in alternative energy systems and identifying economies in building systems. David and his father, Irwin, who had just retired from his law practice in San Francisco, built the first solar multifamily project in Sonoma County. Red Hill Planned Unit Development, a 44-unit townhouse community in Cotati, was an award winner in the California Affordable Housing Competition in June 1981.

In 1987, David and Irwin incorporated as Leff Construction and Development Corp. and continued to expand as developers and builders of small infill residential subdivisions. At the same time, they built and remodeled homes for local homeowners. Leff Construction began developing its unique approach to design-build and found that homeowners benefited from our early involvement. In our practice, as design ideas are explored their costs are considered -- your budget and your vision are integral parts of the home design.

As the company grew, Leff Construction continued to focus on appropriate technologies. David and Irwin became more interested in remodeling and restoration as a way to recycle building materials. This early approach to green building involved the reuse and recycling of building materials whenever possible. Leff Construction restored a number of historic buildings in Sebastopol. The Western Sonoma County Historical society gave Leff Construction its Annual Historical Renovation and Preservation Award in 1994.

Leff Construction continues to grow. With six people in the office and eighteen to twenty in the field, the company is building and remodeling many beautiful homes in Sonoma County.
