Sebastopol, CA, June 9, 2010 - Leff Construction of Sebastopol is prepared for the new safety lead laws set forth in the Environmental Protection Agency’s recent Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule. All Leff superintendents have been trained and certified for the new law, put in place on April 22, 2010. The law aims to protect adults and children from the risks of lead poisoning. The EPA estimates that in the next year approximately 8.4 million renovation events will trigger the Rule’s requirements.
The Rule’s requirements are generally triggered when paint which has not been certified as being lead-free, is disturbed by any renovation, repair or painting project. Certain lead-safe work practice standards must be met during the work and a “cleaning verification” must be conducted before the work area can be reoccupied.
