AIARE Design Awards Gala and Presentation this Friday, Oct 27th
This is an event not to miss! Our local AIA chapter is having their Design Awards Gala and Presentation this Friday, the 27th. It’s open to the general public and anyone who loves great design and architecture. This will be a very unique event with a French market theme. Many firms are building little shops inside the Kaiser Air Hanger, and the “dinner” is mingling around through the different shops, eating, socializing, and looking at the project presentations boards. The shops include an oyster market, charcuterie, cheese shop, fruit & veggie stand, a wine bar, tap room, coffee shop, bakery, chocolate shop, champagne, art galleries for the presentation boards, and sidewalk café tables. The awards ceremony is not the typical sit down either. Truckloads of Herman Miller lounge furniture are being brought up for seating. All that for just a few hours! Wendy Young, AIARE Executive Director pulled it together. Way to go Wendy!

5:30 p.m. Avenue of Entries:
Imagine yourself strolling the lane of shops, stopping by the wine bar for a glass of wine, then leisurely moving on to sample delectable fresh baguettes, fresh crème, delicious cheeses, roasted peppers, a few raw oysters at the fish market and some various sliced meats at another. Imagine sitting at a lovely café table people watching while you are enjoying an evening with friends listening to the tunes coming from the tap room down the street. Imagine dipping a chocolate from the chocolatier while sipping a chocolate martini or enjoying a fresh brewed cup of coffee while enjoying a pastry from the bakery. Save time to take a picture at the photo booth to memorialize the evening and appreciate the architectural design by visiting the galleries of art throughout the market.
