Leff Construction Receives Excellent Environmental Consciousness Award
Sebastopol, CA- February 3, 2009- Sebastopol Area Chamber of Commerce presented Leff Construction with the Excellent Environmental Consciousness Award at the annual Community Awards on Wednesday, January 28.
As a certified green builder, Leff Construction’s president and founder, David Leff, stresses the importance of building sustainably which includes the use of energy efficient building systems, materials that preserve high-quality indoor air, water conservation with efficient plumbing systems, and construction waste sorting, reduction and recycling.
Leff has been building green since 1978 in the construction of solar homes, including two passive solar single-family residences in the late 70’s and the first passive and active solar multi-family development in Sonoma County in the early 1980’s. Leff has recently completed the building of a certified green home in Occidental and will begin construction later this year on a new home that is designed to be “LEED Gold.”
In 2008 Leff Construction was nationally recognized by Remodeling Magazine as one of the Big50 remodeling companies of 2008 for Industry Impact and “environmentally friendly remodeling.” David Leff serves on the Green Building Committee of the North Coast Builders Exchange and has participated as a speaker or panelist in a number of conferences about green building and recycling.
