Bruce MacDonell – Senior Superintendent Bruce MacDonell

Bruce moved to the Russian River area of Sonoma County in 1986 two weeks before the big flood. The property had been in his family for four generations and he became a carpenter to work on the home and follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. Bruce's grandfather built the cabin 100% out of recycled materials during the Depression and created a family treasure. Bruce is proud to have continued the tradition.

Bruce studied art in college and changed careers to construction in 1982. He spent four years as a union carpenter and continued his carpentry work when he moved to Sonoma County. He began working for Leff Construction in 1988 starting as a journeyman carpenter when there were only three field employees. He's now our senior superintendent and a highly skilled builder.

Bruce enjoys finish carpentry and unusual construction challenges. Some of his notable remodeling projects include Leff's historic restoration jobs in Freestone, a complete transformation of a storage barn into a beautiful custom home, and a job that included a detailed and complex entry staircase. Bruce enjoys bringing historic buildings back to usefulness and beauty. The most rewarding thing for him is helping clients transform an ordinary home to a beautiful custom home that realizes their vision.

Bruce is always working to improve his construction knowledge. For over 10 years Bruce has dedicated himself to promoting healthy life choices for Sonoma County youths and adults. His hobbies include ceramics and painting. He's a skilled and serious competitive fisherman. Other interests include bow hunting, gardening, music and cooking.
