Considering a remodel?
Join us Saturday, February 23rd for a free workshop to get your bearings.
Most of us live in a home that was originally designed by an architect but without our personal lifestyles in mind, with no regard for our own tastes and style preferences, and with little consideration for the topography and orientation of the piece of land it was built on.

The result for us, the homeowner, is often a home that is designed to meet some common denominator that would appeal to the greatest number of potential home buyers. It may meet some of our needs but often requires that we adjust our lifestyles and the way we live in our homes in order to enjoy the place in which we spend most of our time.

It's a joy now to relax on the new porch and take in the views of sprawling oaks and the new vineyard beyond.
By reconfiguring the interior instead of adding on to the footprint of the existing structure, one can:
- add space and natural light:

- add storage:

- eliminate awkward transitions and create a good flow and balance:

This home had a pass-through between the kitchen and living room, but the residents had to walk all the way around to enter the kitchen.
- take advantage of views that may have been previously blocked or unavailable:

- get a new and different home tailored to your desires without moving:

This home had a separate dining room and formal living room. The dining room was converted into an exercise room. We removed the walls between the living and family rooms, and swapped the locations of the kitchen and living room. Access to the new outdoor kitchen, deck and pool area made more sense and the view was enhanced.
- take advantage of unused or poorly used rooms:
BEFORE

This kitchen had been recently remodeled. While the homeowner was happy with the finishes, she was a baker and really wanted a space to comfortably do that. The now vacant room down the hall behind the refrigerator was opened up and converted into a dedicated baker's corner of the new kitchen.
AFTER

If this sounds familiar to you and you find yourself learning to live with things about your home that really annoy you, it’s time to consider a remodel. You really should be comfortable in your home and love where you live.
